Wise, a manufacturer of industrial and prime labels, custom business forms, and digital print to the trade for over 50 years, has announced the installation of its new HP 6K Digital Label Press. This installation will drive continued expansion in its prime and industrial labels business, which remains the fastest growing area of the company.

“This new press will add significant new capabilities of benefit to our customers,” says Bill Prettyman, CEO of Wise. “Equally important, we are investing in the future of the printing industry. This installation reflects where we see the industry going.”

Wise operates five plants, including Alpharetta, GA; Portland, ME; Fort Wayne, IN; Butler, PA; and Anderson, SC, where the HP 6K Digital Label Press has been installed.

With the new press, Wise has the ability to produce virtually any label or packaging application—from pressure-sensitive labels to sleeves to wraparounds—in brilliant four-color in runs as short as one.

“In the short term, we expect our customers to focus on new capabilities such as sequential numbering and very short runs,” notes Will Prettyman, general manager of Wise’s Anderson, SC labels plant. “But once they learn the full spectrum of creative possibilities offered by this press, we expect this to generate great excitement and creativity around new applications and markets. The word ‘game-changer’ is often overused, but in this case, that’s exactly what this press is!”

Wise’s HP 6K Digital Label Press was installed late in 2023 and is in full production.
